Since 2012, Summer Smash Tennis has provided high quality tennis programs to community centers and schools in Vancouver. We are known for our small class sizes, focus on technique, and warm community vibe.
Social Impact
We introduce students of all ages to the game of tennis and facilitate meaningful skill development at the grassroots level. We teach over 2000 students per year and our lessons have a huge impact on local communities.

Job Title: Tennis Instructor
Term: September 2023-December 2023 (Fall)
Are you an enthusiastic and energetic tennis coach that has a passion for teaching and working with young people?
Summer Smash Tennis located in Vancouver, B.C. is looking to hire a tennis coach with significant playing experience to fill the role of Tennis Instructor for the fall season from September 2023 to December 2023 . The role of the Instructor will be to coach lessons including group classes and private lessons for both children and adults.
Job Description: The Instructor will be available for the 2023 fall season, which runs from the start of September to mid December. The instructor will be an important part of the coaching team and must be able to follow instructions, work as part of a team, and possess a keen willingness to learn the Summer Smash Tennis progression. Throughout the season, the instructors’ primary responsibilities will involve delivering group lessons for children and adults.
Responsibilities

Learn the Summer Smash Tennis coaching progression

Teach tennis fundamentals to children and adults following our progression

Work closely and cooperatively with the coaching team to ensure safe and productive lessons

Communicate with the Summer Smash Tennis organization in a professional manner

Maintain a positive learning environment for students and staff

Ensure equipment and work spaces are left tidy for other coaches

Be friendly, caring, hardworking, high-energy, punctual, reliable, and willing to learn
Required Qualifications:

Current Tennis Canada/TPA Instructor certification or international equivalent (minimum)

An experienced player that enjoys teaching and hanging out with young people (4-13)

An understanding of the Progressive Tennis model (red, orange, green ball model)

A clean Criminal Record Check

Be a kind, aware, and chill person
Preferred Qualifications

Experience working with young people (4 - 13 years old)

Experience coaching children’s tennis in a group setting

First Aid/CPR
Hours and Compensation

6-20 hours of coaching per week

$25/hr - $60/hr depending on lesson type and coach experience

Compensation will be based on the candidates level of certification and experience

Coaches can choose to work between 6 and 30 hours per week from May to August. We offer a flexible schedule and allow coaches to set their own availability.
Coach Training
Learn from experienced coaches and develop your teaching and professional skills. We provide provide regular opportunities for internal training and subsidize Tennis Canada certifications and workshops.
Sponsorships
We have sponsorships or partnerships with local tennis retailers. All coaches receive substantial discounts.
