Programs

At Summer Smash Tennis, we believe that every student can become a player for life. Our programs are designed to provide students with a technical foundation that will allow them to maximize their potential as recreational or competitive players. Distinct from other clubs and centres, our mission is to do more than simply facilitate play; we strive to produce tennis players.

Mini Fundamentals (4-5 yrs)

Start building an athletic foundation! We have fun developing students’ tracking, balancing, movement, throwing, catching, and racquet skills through a variety of activities. Enjoy various complementary activities that aid in cooperation, focus, and spatial awareness. 

 

Development Focus

  • Develop listening and cooperation skills in a group setting

  • Develop a love for tennis and sport in a positive environment

  • Develop fundamental movement patterns and coordination for sport

  • Develop forehand and backhand fundamentals

Mini Aces (6-7 yrs)

Prepare your child to excel at tennis and sport. We have fun developing students’ balance, jumping, throwing, catching, and racquet skills. An emphasis is placed on learning how to develop coordination and cooperation skills in a group setting.

 

Development Focus

  • Develop a love for tennis and sport in a positive environment

  • Develop fundamental movement patterns and coordination for sport

  • Develop dynamic racquet-and-ball control skills

  • Develop reception-based skills for movement and tracking

  • Develop forehand and backhand fundamentals

Junior Fundamentals (8-11 yrs)

Young beginners are introduced to the game through high energy, game-based lessons that use the ½ stage of the progressive tennis model.  An emphasis is placed on inspiring a love for the game while building a strong technical foundation.

 

Development Focus

  • Develop a love for tennis and sport in a positive environment

  • Develop and integrate reception and projection skills for movement and tracking 

  • Develop full-motion groundstrokes with modern technique

  • Develop cooperative and competitive rally skills

Junior Aces (9-13 yrs)

Build your tennis game! Start or continue to develop skills with an eventual progression to rally and play within the full court setting.  Students will be introduced to all phases of play and basic strategy. Beginner and intermediate levels welcome.

 

Development Focus

  • Develop a love for tennis and competition in a positive environment

  • Develop and integrate reception and projection skills for movement and tracking 

  • Develop familiarity with the shot cycle for efficient movement during rallying

  • Develop full-motion groundstrokes and serve with modern technique

  • Develop cooperative and competitive rally skills with an awareness of the connection between technique and tactics
